The
Inland Church of Christ wants to share God’s plan of salvation around the
entire world, and to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the
Good News! What will it profit a man to gain the whole world and its riches and
lose his own soul? Jesus is the key to eternal life through faithful service to
Him now and in His kingdom on earth…the Church of Christ.
Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
things that I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end
of the ages. (Matthew 28:19-20)
We are
the New Testament Church, and enjoy fellowshipping with those who pattern their
worship according to the New Testament and seek biblical authority for the
direction of the Church. We do not recognize or embrace any human creeds,
disciplines, catechisms, or religious traditions (Matthew 15:8-9). Instead, we
embrace Christ’s plea for unity in John 17:20-21. To this end, we preach one
body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, and one baptism (Ephesians 4:1-6) – the basis
for spiritual unity.
We
believe that all religious authority belongs to Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18).
Therefore, Christ has the last word in matters of religion. We believe that
this authority extends to all of the Lord’s commandments.
We
believe in the essentials of Faith (Hebrews 11:6), Repentance (Acts 17:30),
Confession (Matthew 10:32-33), and Baptism (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38), as a
faith response to the Gospel. These responses to The New Testament pattern
demonstrate ones willingness to become a New Testament Christian. When a
believing candidate is baptized, Christ adds them to His Family (kingdom,
church, body) (Galatians 3:26-29).
Worship
in the Church of Christ consists of 5 spiritual areas:
Preaching/Teaching
(Mark 16:15, 2 Timothy 4:2, Colossians 1:21-23,); Prayer (I Thess. 5:17;
Ephesians 6:18); Acapella Singing (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16); the Lord’s
Supper (Acts 20:7, Matthew 26: 26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:23-30); and Giving of
our means (I Corinthians 16:1-2, I Corinthians 9: 6-7).
The
Church of Christ – One body, many parts. (I Corinthians 12:12). We are called
to lovingly serve Jesus in every aspect of our lives, daily.
We
believe in the “Godhead,” the Father (Creator) the Son (Redeemer) and the Holy
Spirit (Sustainer) (John 1:1-3; 2 Corinthians 13:13,1 John 5:7-8).
We
believe in one God eternally existing in three equal persons. These three have
the same nature, essence and attributes. They are distinct in office and
activity (Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; John 5: 7-8).
We
believe that Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22-23).
We
believe that there is one Lord, one Faith and one Baptism (Ephesians 4:5).
A person
is added to the church (body of Christ) when he or she is baptized (immersed in
water) for the remission of sin (Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 12:13).
We
believe in the resurrection of the dead (at the Second Coming of Christ). In
the eternal conscious existence of all individuals in either heaven or hell,
after the judgment of God (Luke 16:19-31; 2 Corinthians 5:8-10; 1 Corinthians
3:11-15).
We
believe the entire bible is infallible and that it is the inspired Word of God.
It is the supreme and final authority in doctrine and practice (Isaiah 40:8; 2
Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
We
believe in the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), and in walking in newness
of life by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:1-6, Ephesians 4:1-2).
We
believe in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper every Sunday (Communion) (Acts
20:7).
We
believe in the Church’s mission to evangelize the world (Mark 16:15-16, Proverbs
11:30).
Our
mission is to spread the good news around the world. Hearing and Believing the
good news of Jesus, calls a person to Repent of their sins, Confess that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God; which leads to Baptism “fully immersed in water” for
the remission of their sins.
